Health & Wellbeing
Help us to look after you & your family
The Health & Wellbeing Department at BPL operates with a holistic and multi disciplinary approach to health. Working in partnership with external organisations, BPL recognises how we can improve the health of people in our communities.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) defines health as "A state of complete physical, mental & social well-being & not merely the absence of disease or infirmity"
Leisure activities are recognised as a proven way of helping people with their health problems and medical conditions and can reduce the risks of heart disease and other illnesses.
The Department of Health (DoH) states that 30 min of moderate physical activity each day (that is feeling slightly out of breath) reduces the risk of a heart attack by 50%.
We have specialised staff, highly qualified who work with NHS services and clinical health practitioners based in the community and hospitals to support patients in Barnsley and Sheffield. See our Exercise Referral Scheme & Stop Smoking programme.
